Schweizer Electronic - Track Warning System

Schweizer Electronic and PRI have come together to promote and increase track safety for railway workers and personnel. With the Minimel Lynx radio warning system, workers are clearly and easily alerted to incoming and departing trains from their work area. The Minimel Lynx is economic, user-friendly, and extremely safe.

The Minimel Lynx radio warning system is the innovation development for automated track workers and goods protection on the open rail. The warning system detects approaching trains and warns construction workers on work-sites with optical and acoustic signals. The trains are counted automatically either by using treadles, by a train detector, or manually via a look-out operator using the radio hand switch. The train detector is processed at the central unit and a warning is automatically issued to all warning devices.

The video below shows the Minimel Lynx radio warning system in action.

The train sets off the alarm after passing by the treadle where it is automatically counted (above images). As soon as it does, the alarm is processed at the central unit and sent to the warning devices, signaling an oncoming train. Numerous optical and acoustic signals are made to alert nearby personnel of the incoming train. Once it passes the second treadle (indicates the train is outside the work area) a final sound is made and the alarm ends.
