PRI Builds MG Systems for East Side Access

West Babylon, NY – PRI has completed the fabrication, testing, delivery, and onsite commissioning of two motor generator (MG) signal power systems as part of the Long Island Rail Road’s (LIRR) East Side Access Project. Located at Grand Central Station and Queens Plaza, these systems are responsible for providing 2400V for the signal power systems in the East Side Access tunnel system.

After the tracks and integration are complete, PRI’s MG systems will provide signal power within the tunnels for the first trains to pass from Queens Plaza to Grand Central Station.

East Side Access provides new LIRR service to the east side of Manhattan, supplementing existing service to Penn Station on the west side of Manhattan and Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. This project includes work in several locations in Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx and includes over eight miles of tunneling.
